Polyester (BoPET) Film
PET Film is polyester prepared in thin plastic leaves, with a thickness less than 0.5 millimetres (500 micron), although much thinner gauges down to 0.007 mm (7 micron) are commonly used. PET film is known as BoPET film, Polyester film and sometimes alternatively as Mylar, Melinex and Hostaphan.
BoPET (PET Film) is a polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and is used for its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties and electrical insulation.
PET Film is widely used for Flexible packaging and food contact applications, Covering over paper, Insulating material, Solar and marine applications, Science, Electronic and acoustic applications. BoPET film can be metallized by vapor deposition of a thin film of evaporated aluminum, gold, or other metal onto it. For some applications like food packaging, the aluminized boPET film can be laminated with a layer of polyethylene (PE), which provides sealability and improves puncture resistance.
